I’m Thinking of Ending Things
By Iain Reid
Well, this one left me in questions even after I closed the back cover! I was shocked, confused, and just wow. This was a thriller to say the least, every time I thought I was catching on, nope another turn.
Jake seems like your run of the mill guy taking his girlfriend home to meet the parents for the first time. Written from her perspective it takes you along for thoughts and conversations of the two. From the ride there, to meeting the family, and to the drive home. So much happens on that winter day!
The book alone was not that long and overall, a quick read. I don’t want to say too much and ruin it. I will say that it is worth the few hours to get through it. This doesn’t account for the number of questions you’ll be left with though. I can’t wait to see those and discuss them.
If you’re ready to have your head going in every direction but straight pick this one up. Between the story, the present-day blurbs throughout, and the book group questions at the end it was a lot of fun. Iain Reid did a great job capturing attention and I can’t wait to see if the movie compares.
